Real Handful (Stand B70)
Start-up Real Handful has launched a range of nutritionally balanced snacks inspired by trail mixes.
The brand is the brainchild of husband and wife team Joe and Carly Taylor, who have worked for businesses including Innocent Drinks, Kellogg, KraftHeinz and The Authentic Food Company. Products in the six-strong range have already secured listings with retailers including health food business Holland and Barrett and online supermarket Ocado. Each 40g impulse pack contains between 154 and 196 calories.
“Having run consumer research, the feedback was overwhelming – 82% of people weren’t satisfied with the availability of healthy snacks in the UK and the biggest barrier to consumption, outside price, was taste,” said Joe. “I kept thinking back to my time hiking in the Grand Canyon where I kept myself going with trail mix blends of dried fruits, nuts and the odd bit of chocolate.
“We decided to put our own spin on trail mix, making it more relevant for the UK consumer and impulse snacking occasion.”
