Is it a plant or a bottle? It is a PlantBottle
Coca-Cola revealed its 100% plant material bottle at the World Expo in Milan this year.
It has been using the PlantBottle – made from up to 30% plant-based material – since 2009.
The firm did not put a time frame on when the bottle will be available on a wide scale commercially.
PepsiCo made a bottle from 100% bio-based raw materials, including switch grass, pine bark and corn husks in 2011 and said pilot production would begin in 2012 but has been strangely quite about this development ever since.
While we are on this subject, Avantium said recently it plans to introduce its PEF bottle to the Japanese market in time for the Olympics in 2020 and has signed a deal with Mitsul.
