Klöckner launches new APET film

Klöckner Pentaplast, the global packaging provider, has launched a new line of FDA compliant APET film in the US - Pentafood FD-E670/54. The film is said to offer exceptional internal and external denest properties for food packaging applications.

The company is the leading global supplier offering a closed-loop regrind system for APET films. According to Klöckner, the film's denest properties allow for increased productivity resulting in higher yields and, therefore, cost savings. In addition, films are said to have high optical clarity and excellent toughness making them a good replacement alternative for more brittle OPS parts.

"Our customers asked for a film that could be processed more easily for tray and clamshell food packaging of items such as berries, fresh produce, and fresh bakery goods, so we developed this cutting-edge film to better serve their needs,"​ said Chris Findley, Klöckner Pentaplast's business manager for food packaging films.

Founded in the US in 1977, Klöckner Pentaplast of America is the largest producer of high-quality rigid films in the Americas. The company's product line includes vinyl, polyester, BAREX, ACLAR-laminated, COC-laminated and -coated, and PVDC-coated films for pharmaceutical, medical device, food, electronics, and general-purpose thermoform packaging, as well as printing and specialty applications.

With the acquisition of Witt Plastics, Klöckner Pentaplast also offers high-impact polystyrene (HIPS) for credit card and printing (graphic arts), medical device packaging, and food applications, as well as polypropylene for food and packaging applications.
