Meneba BV and Codrico Rotterdam BV have formed a joint venture to offer customers a wider portfolio of products.

Both companies process cereal ingredients for the global food and speciality feed industries.

According to the board of directors, the co-operation will not be limited to joint marketing, but will include several aspects of business operations and supports the expansion strategy of both companies.

Cereal players

Codrico Rotterdam specializes in milling non-GMO maize into grits and flours for the breakfast cereal industry.

It is also known for its thermo-mechanical treatment of cereal grains and pulses that result in gluten-free functional food ingredients, suitable for clean label and texturizing applications within the snack food industry.

The company’s product portfolio includes a range of agricultural raw materials like corn, wheat, chickpea and other pulses; pregelatinized flours, used in baked crackers; specialised ingredients for extruded products and masa flour for tortilla chips.

It supplies Nestlé, Kellogg’s Pringles and Unilever, among other international snack producers.

Meneba’s speciality lies in wheat, including flour and improvers for baked goods for both artisanal and industrial bakeries, which adds a relevant extension to Codrico Rotterdam’s business.

The benefits of JV

Gerard Verkerke, director of sales and purchasing of Codrico Rotterdam, told BakeryandSnacks, the JV will benefit clients with the co-joined knowledge of both companies and specialities.

“Our knowledge of processing corn, wheat and pulses and extended applications, combined with the opportunities within our international customer portfolio, will result in significant appeal to existing market needs,” added Joes van Genuchten, CEO of Codrico Rotterdam.
