Flavorologists have developed the Flavor Cloud, which emits bursts of air ‘flavored’ with Pringles sour cream and onion crisps (chips).

The invention was developed following a survey into the UK’s snacking habits. Participants were also asked to predict the food technologies of the future.

A snack drawer that restocks itself; a flavorful meal in a pill; and a snack-delivering drone were the three most popular inventions.

Edible air was also predicted, but people only expected it to be developed by 2037.

Time warp

Pringles, with the help of food technologists, has defied convention and brought this experience forward by two decades.

According to flavorologist Keziah Brown, people are open to experience flavors in new and innovative ways.

“Following the results of our research, we wanted to bring one of the predicted innovations to the public sooner than expected, which is why we created the Pringles-flavoured cloud,” she said.

“Because of busy lifestyles, we wanted to create something that can literally just float along and people can experience on-the-go.”

The Flavor Cloud took the flavor technologists a year to design and evolve, and allows snackers to taste their favorite flavors in the air.

The machine can hold up to 10 cans of Pringles and uses a vortex cannon technology to deliver a burst of flavored air.

It emits a cloud of Pringles sour cream and onion, which was voted as the number one flavor in the UK and Europe.

The Flavor Cloud was unveiled in London, UK, by TV actress and Pringles ambassador, Kelly Brook.

Cheddar bacon mac ’n cheese

The Pringles-funded survey revealed that half of UK consumers crave crisps when they are work, more than any other snack.

When it comes to new flavors, 28% of respondents said they would like to see Cheddar Bacon Mac ‘n Cheese introduced onto the UK market, followed by 16% opting for Welsh Rarebit and 10% for Seafood.
