Bagels have high-protein makeover

Dr Zak has launched a high-protein bagel

High-protein bread and pasta firm Dr Zak’s is now in 150 retailers throughout the UK and set to boost its presence further with the launch of its bagels.

Dr Zak’s, which was launched last year by the body builder Zak Pallikaros, manufactures bread, pasta and now bagels with up to 50g of protein per portion. The products are also lower in carbohydrates than non-fortified alternatives.

Consumers recently voted protein as the most trusted nutrient in a poll carried out by Mintel. More than 12% of UK consumers had increased their protein intake in the past year, according to the same poll.
