Global push to action

The Paris Pledge of Action to Combat Climate Change is a global action plan to put the world on track to avoid dangerous climate change by limiting global warming to below 2°C (32F).

Daniel Servitjie, president and CEO of Grupo Bimbo, also expressed his own support for the Paris Agreement.

Servitjie, described as a true global leader, has been running thebakery conglomerate since 1997. His direction has propelled the $14bn company founded in 1945 by his father, Don Lorenzo Servitjie Sendra, to become a global player in the food industry with a presence in over 22 countries.

In a statement, Servitjie said today, more than ever, all of society must take on this commitment and join forces.

Climate’s change – at a cost

The decision flies in the face of Donald Trump’s decision to withdraw the US from the Paris Agreement.

According to the president, the climate accord has purportedly cost his country nearly $3 trillion in reduced output, over six million industrial jobs and more than three million manufacturing jobs.

The June 1 announcement was greeted with both condemnation and support.

Stop deforestation

At the Paris Agreement Grupo Bimbo also signed the UN Declaration on Forests in 2014 aimed to halve deforestation by 2020 and eliminate it entirely by 2030.
